Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures. Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances.

Dental implants are artificial roots (usually titanium screw like fixtures) that are surgically placed into the jaw bone by a surgeon to form an artificial tooth root which anchors in place a new tooth crown, giving you the same functions and look as a natural tooth The teeth attached to implants are very natural looking and often enhance or restore a patient’s smile!

Dental implants are strong and durable and will last many years. They are proven to be much more durable and long lasting than any other restorative dental treatment available today. On occasion, they will have to be re-tightened or replaced due to normal wear.

What does getting dental implants involve?

The process of getting implants requires a number of visits over several months. At Serenity Facial and Dental Aesthetics every treatment begins with a thorough consultation with Dr Siamak Yourdshahyan where all treatment options will be discussed.

At Serenity we are proud to use the latest technologies and digital innovations in the field. Intra-oral digital xrays, 3D scans (CBCT), OPG xrays, intra oral cameras and digital scanners (iTero) are used to help determine bone level, gum tissue and visualize vital structures (blood vessels and nerve tissue) and spacing available for an implant. In the expert hands of Dr Siamak Yourdshahyan with more than 22 years of experience, surgical placement of implant into jaw bone is a straightforward process which can be completed under local anaesthetic. For optimal results implants are allowed to heal and integrate into jaw bone for up to six months. Depending on your treatment and your dentist’s diagnosis, a temporary crown can be fitted at the same time to provide “Same day teeth” which is a modern procedure that enables you to walk out of the clinic with brand new teeth in just one day. These will stay in place until the final restoration appointment.

Whilst for most implants different compartments (post and anchor) are already attached and placed at the same time, for other types of implant, a second surgery may be required in order to place the “post” that will hold the artificial tooth in place. The type of implant chosen will be specific to your individual needs in order to create the bespoke results and give you a smile to smile about!

After several weeks of healing the artificial teeth are made and fitted to the post portion of the anchor. Depending on your healing response, this takes place between six weeks and six months after your initial treatment, to allow the implant to fully integrate before the fitting of your bespoke crown or bridge which will be colour matched to blend seamlessly with your smile, as well as providing excellent stability and comfort

As with natural teeth, good oral hygiene is important for preventing gum disease and prolonging the life span of your implants. You will receive care instructions when your treatment is completed. A high standard of daily oral hygiene, remaining a nonsmoker individual, along with regular check-ups and hygienist, will help to ensure your mouth stays healthy and your implants last as long as possible.
